Pauly and Rewerts Win Big at the Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s Masters Walleye Circuit on the Border Waters of Big Stone Lake Presented by Lowrance

Ortonville, Minnesota – May 24, 2022 – Hopes were high leading into this weekend that Big Stone Lake was going to give up some big walleyes for the anglers of the Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s Masters Walleye Circuit (MWC) tournament. The conditions leading up to the tournament on the boundary water between Minnesota and South Dakota were just right to help the anglers find what they needed to bring across the stage. The fish were primed and ready to feed after just coming from the spawning grounds, looking to put some weight back on after a long and drawn-out spring.  Isaac Pauly (Arlington, MN) and Jacob Rewerts (Mayer, MN) figured out just what made these walleyes tick and brought home the win at the third stop of the MWC 2022 season.

Isaac and Jacob only had two days of practice leading into this event. They broke the lake down quickly during their practice and caught a lot of those big walleyes over 20 inches that everyone saw come across the stage. They put a game plan together that would have them trolling hard baits for both days of the event. That plan held together and they brought a bag of fish each day that weighed a total of 40-10 lbs and secured them a win. Their combined two-day weight awarded them the top prize of $9,300, $3,400 in the Option Pot, along with a $1,000 NTC prize package, (2) Okuma Reels, and a $1,000 bonus from Lowrance for a grand total of almost $15,000 at the third stop of the 2022 Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s Masters Walleye Circuit (MWC) event on Big Stone Lake, presented by Lowrance.

Here’s a breakdown of how the rest of the top 5 teams faired after this weekend:

2nd Paul Weber and Tim Judovsky 38-01, $4,000 cash and $2,327 option pot

3rd Jason Ackerman and Jeffrey Trapp 36-15, $2,300 cash

4th Jordan Gibson and Brian Carlson 36-08, $2,000 cash and $950 option pot

5th Kaiden Dorris and Mark Schoning 35-03, $1,600 cash and $700 option pot

The total payout for the event on Big Stone Lake was $37,321 that paid out nine places. The anglers caught a total of 332 walleyes that together weighed 1093-10 lbs. The biggest fish of the event was caught by the 4th place team of Gibson and Carlson that weighed 9-09lbs.

The anglers and staff of the Masters Walleye Circuit would like to thank the city of Ortonville, MN and all of the volunteers that came out to lend a hand and for hosting this event!

2022 MWC Goes West in Search of Some Border Water Walleyes on Big Stone Lake, MN Presented by Lowrance

2022 MWC Goes West in Search of Some Border Water Walleyes on Big Stone Lake, MN

Presented by Lowrance

Ponca City, Okla. – May 2, 2022 – With a successful Bass Pro Shops & Cabela’s Masters Walleye Circuit (MWC) event on Lake Erie now behind us, we’re now heading west, to Big Stone Lake in Ortonville, Minnesota for the third event of the 2022 MWC season, this one, presented by Lowrance.

The lake is 27 miles long with walleyes to be found from the very upper reaches of the system to the dam found in Ortonville. Big Stone Lake is a unique body of water in that, it is relatively shallow in comparison to its size and also lies right on the border between Minnesota and South Dakota. This system is known to hold giant walleyes and the anglers competing in this tournament are hoping a couple show up each day on May 20th and 21st to bring to the scale at Ortonville City Park.

Big Stone Lake has unique regulations that only allow anglers to bring in one fish over 20 inches per person to the scales. That means the teams competing will have their work cut out for them trying to find not only a couple big fish but also good numbers of walleyes that are hopefully just under that 20-inch mark to give them the biggest bag. According to studies by the Minnesota Department of Natural resources, there are high numbers of fish in the 18-to-24-inch range which should make for some good weights. This year, after hearing feedback from the anglers and community the MWC is returning to Big Stone a few weeks later in the year to offer anglers a prime shot of some big post spawn walleyes that will hopefully be hungry after a long winter and the spring spawn.

Daily live weigh-ins will be held at the Ortonville City Park beginning at 3:00pm both days on May 20-21. We welcome everyone to watch the weigh-ins live, online, at masters walleyecircuit.com or on our Facebook page facebook.com/MastersWalleyeCircuit.

Each MWC event has a lucrative payout which is based on the number of teams entered into that event, and is awarded to 20% of the field, providing more inspiration to sign up and join the fun. In addition to a hefty check, the first-place team also earns a $1,000 Bass Pro Shops & Cabela’s National Team Championship (NTC) prize package including: paid entry, a travel stipend, team jerseys, and plaques. Additionally, the big-fish pot, option-pot and sponsor bonuses from Ranger Cup, Lowrance, Okuma, and T-H Marine Atlas Awards will add thousands more for distribution among the field.

Gibson and Beck Take Top Honors at Bass Pro Shops / Cabela’s Masters Walleye Circuit’s Event Hosted by Lowe Equipment on Lake Erie

Gibson and Beck Take Top Honors at Bass Pro Shops / Cabela’s Masters Walleye Circuit’s Event Hosted by Lowe Equipment on Lake Erie

Sandusky, Ohio – April 26, 2022 – It was a tail of two different stories between what the anglers on Lake Erie encountered on day one of the event verses day two. On the first day, anglers were handed some pretty tough conditions with chilly temps and a strong north-east wind bringing some tall waves and rollers into the Sandusky Bay along the south shores of Lake Erie. Day two brought some very welcome changes in the weather as the wind subsided and changed from the south, bringing with it some very warm temps and a little less of a “walleye chop”. Despite the changing weather, partners Joseph Gibson (Avon Lake, OH) and Bryan Beck (Lakewood, OH) took home the win at the second stop of the 2022 Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s Masters Walleye Circuit (MWC) event presented by Lowe Equipment Attachments. on Lake Erie out of Sandusky OH.

Gibson and Beck brought in a heavy bag of 36-03 lbs. on day 1 that landed them nearly a pound behind the day 1 leaders of Steve Hendricks and Brian Ulmer and with a respectable lead of nearly 3 ponds over third place team of Jason Kopf and Ryan Buddie.

On day two the stars aligned and Lake Erie gave the eventual champions another great limit to bring across the MWC stage of 31-11 lbs. The team’s two-day total weight of 67-14 lbs of Lake Erie gold was good enough to take home the top prize of $17,600 along with $6,300 for the MWC option pot, $7,000 in cash from Ranger Cup, $1,000 cash from Lowrance, (2) Okuma Reels, and other prizes totaling a whopping $32,985!

On top of all of that, an affiliate of The Walleye Federation (TWF), the Lake Erie Walleye Trail (LEWT) partnered with MWC to hold one of their regular season events alongside the MWC event and bring their anglers across the MWC Main stage. As members of the LEWT, Gibson and Beck won that event also pushing their grand total to over $50,000 between both events!

Here’s a break down of what the rest of the top 5 MWC teams brought to the scale:

2nd. Steve Hendricks and Brian Ulmer 67-13, $7,400 cash and $3,260 option pot

3rd. Jason Kopf and Ryan Buddie 65-04, $4,960 cash and $2,500 option pot

4th. Dennis Hunter and Jesse Guerra 62-01, $3,960 cash

5th. Steve and Wally Neumann 61-02, $3,360 cash and $2,063.50 option pot

The total payout in cash and prizes for this Lake Erie event, presented by Lowe Equipment was $111,973 paid between 27 places out of 136 MWC teams. The anglers caught a total of 1,338 fish weighing a total of 7051lbs 13 oz. during the event. The biggest fish of the event was caught by Gary and Alex Kisel and weighed a whopping 11 lbs. 9 oz.

The anglers were excited to compete in this large dual event with new teams coming from across the country, and are eager to partner up again in the future with the LEWT and other TWF affiliated clubs and local trails to further solidify an ongoing partnership between The Walleye Federation and walleye clubs everywhere.

The anglers and staff of the Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s Masters Walleye Circuit would like to thank the city of Sandusky and Ohio’s Lake Erie Shores and Islands for hosting this event and for the hospitality when coming into their beautiful city!  We and our partners for this event from LEWT would also like to give a big THANK YOU to Victory Kitchen of Sandusky for taking all of the fish from this weekend and providing much needed assistance to families in need from all around the area. These events take a lot of time to plan and working with these great places made the entire process seem seamless. Thank you again!
