Cabela’s Masters Walleye Circuit Announces Angler Recruitment Award

Dec. 22, 2011—Minnetonka, MN—Anglers making New Year’s resolutions to promote competitive walleye fishing and fisheries conservation have added incentive to stick to their goals—the Cabela’s Masters Walleye Circuit’s new Angler Recruitment Award.

“We’re serious about supporting tournament fishing, so we’re putting our money where our mouths are and offering anglers a financial reward for introducing new teams to the MWC family,” said Cabela’s MWC Executive Director Dan Johnson. “At each of our nine 2012 qualifiers, the angler credited with bringing the most new teams into the fold will be awarded a free MWC entry to the tournament of their choice in the 2013 season.

“That’s a $650 value,” he added. “And because 100 percent of our entry fees go directly back into payouts and prizes, this comes straight from the Circuit, not our anglers.”

The Cabela’s MWC also takes conservation seriously, and donates $15 per entry fee at each event toward fisheries-related efforts. Since 1984, the Cabela’s Masters Walleye Circuit and its sister trail, the North American Bass Circuit, have given more than $300,000 to fisheries conservation in states where its tournaments are held.

To qualify for the recruitment award, anglers must be credited by new teams for referring them to the Cabela’s MWC—either in the space provided on the 2012 registration forms, or by contacting MWC staff prior to each tournament’s rules meeting.

“We decided to present the award to individual anglers because some MWCers are more active than their teammates in promoting the Circuit,” said Johnson. “Also, in the event a team splits up in the off-season, the angler who did the most recruiting will retain the 2013 entry.”

Registration opens Jan. 9 for the Cabela’s MWC’s 2012 season. Two-person teams will be able to sign up online, by fax or regular mail to enjoy great walleye fishing while competing for thousands in cash and prizes on world-class walleye destinations from Colorado to Ohio. Complete 2012 rules are posted under the “Registration” tab at masterswalleyecircuit.com. Full details, links for online registration and printable registration forms will be posted shortly.
