Anglers,
Welcome to the Mississippi River and Treasure Island Casino! I want to draw your attention to a few items on the fact sheet for this event.
- #1. This event is a Mississippi River Pool 3 & 4 event – NO Inland waters are allowed for this event. Border waters only, meaning waters where licenses are reciprocal are the only fishable waters.
- #2. I have spoken to conservation officers on both sides of the river, and they will have patrols on the water during our event. Even though the licenses are reciprocal and the bag limits are the same between the two states, there are still laws that DO differ, depending on what side of the state line you are on. The biggest one that will affect your competition time is PARTY FISHING. Wisconsin DOES NOT allow it, even on border waters. Minnesota DOES allow it. This is one of these rules that you have to follow even if you are out fun fishing for the day or on a guide trip or whenever you are on the water. State laws DO change at times, even on border waters.
- #3. The other law you must follow is bait laws. There are strict bait laws in both MN and WI. They MUST be followed!
- #4. LOCKING up or down – I have spoken to the Lockmaster on Pool 3 and they are aware we will be there this week. He asks that you do NOT call the phone number to the lock. Use channel 14 on the radio OR pull the cord at the lock to communicate. Understand that Commercial and Federal marine traffic has priority. You risk being locked out of weighing your fish if you do not get back to the weigh-in location in time. You MUST observe the NO WAKE zones. IF the lockmaster reports your boat number to me, we will be having a conversation and a penalty could be assessed.
- #5. Please click on THIS LINK for Google to take you to the location of the rules meeting. Apparently, the address for the venue takes you either down a closed/dead end road or to the casino itself. If you download the fact sheet and click the link on the fact sheet from your phone, it should take you to the correct place. If you type it in, it will NOT. Thanks for your time to read this. I look forward to seeing you in a few days!
