For Immediate Release –

Ponca City, Okla. – January 2, 2013 The Walleye Federation (TWF) announced today the acquisition of the events division of Minnetonka, Minnesota-based North American Media Group, including the Cabela’s Masters Walleye Circuit (MWC) and the Cabela’s North American Bass Circuit (NABC).

“We are honored to bring these businesses, their top-notch staff, anglers, sponsors and premier tournament operations into our family,” stated industry veteran Robert Cartlidge of TWF. “They are the best in their respective fields and have a trusted reputation for serving the anglers at great events.

NABC“We must always look forward, so youth and conservation are always part of anything we are involved in,” he continued. “It cannot only be about prize checks. The Masters Walleye Circuit has for many years funded a Conservation Fund and Youth and Family Fishing Clinics to help ensure fishing and the outdoor way of life for future generations. That is equally important us. All of this and much more, along with the family atmosphere at the MWC and NABC events, is what drew us to them.”

All previously published schedules, dates, locations, entry fees, memberships and formats will remain the same for both the Cabela’s MWC and NABC for 2013. “We will also be announcing added benefits and a few unique, fun opportunities that anglers should really like,” Cartlidge added.

Anglers will also see new, easier to navigate websites for MWC (masterswalleyecircuit.com)  and NABC (northamericanbasscircuit.com) in the near future. “Anglers will also enjoy a new online registration system and a simplified membership offering expanded opportunities at no extra cost and, in many cases, for less money,” he noted. “To stay up on the latest, go to any of our websites—walleye or bass—and click the link to sign up for our free e-newsletter.”

Cartlidge added that all current MWC and NABC staff will be offered a position with the new owners, and some will transfer to TWF’s Oklahoma corporate office.

Founded in 1984 and now entering its 29th year, the Cabela’s Masters Walleye Circuit is the longest running national walleye circuit; the longevity and support base of the MWC is unequalled in the walleye world. “Without a doubt, the MWC is the granddaddy of them all,” said Cartlidge. “It is the standard by which all others are judged, paying out more than a million dollars each year on the world’s best walleye fisheries.” To date, the MWC has donated over $300,000 for fisheries conservation projects in states where MWC and NABC hold events as well as youth and family fishing clinics at each event.

The Cabela’s North American Bass Circuit is a relative newcomer to the industry, being only two years old, but it is growing exponentially, with full fields, phenomenal payouts and is very well received by the anglers. “The NABC has filled a much-needed role in providing opportunities for family and friends to fish together and enjoy a weekend on their favorite lake,” Cartlidge added.
