FIEDLER, SCHILLING WIN CABELA’S MWC
WESTERN DIVISION SEASON OPENER ON LAKE OAHE - Presented by Lowrance
May 9, 2010 Mobridge, SD—South Dakotans Corey Fiedler and Chad Schilling trolled their way to victory on legendary Lake Oahe against more than 80 of the West’s best walleye anglers in the Cabela’s Masters Walleye Circuit’s Western Division season opener.
The pair brought a 10-fish MWC limit weighing 26.56 pounds to the scale during the two-day event, good for a $10,200 payday and bragging rights on the fish-rich Missouri River impoundment. Their winnings included a $500 Cabela’s gift card courtesy of the circuit’s Cabela’s Angler Cash awards program, a $500 Lowrance HDS bonus, and $200 Oxygenator U2 bonus.
Nebraskans Jeff Gottbreht, of Lincoln, and Mike Clark, of Raymond, finished third with six fish weighing 22.12 pounds. Gottbreht and Clark also dominated the big-fish honors, taking first place both days in the Big Fish Pot with a 6.3-pound walleye on Day One and 8.90-pounder Day Two. The pair pocketed $3,560 for their efforts. In all, $28,390 in cash and prizes were awarded.

Busteed, who hails from Windsor, Colorado, and Harmon, of Omaha, Nebraska, brought 14.80 pounds to the scale. Another pair of road warriors—Brian Woodward and Rick Walter, both of Casper, Wyoming, were close behind in second place with 13.49 pounds.
Overall 57 fish weighing a total of 165.13 pounds crossed the stage as 44 teams battled for more than $28,000 in cash and prizes. Big fish of the day went to the Nebraska team of Jeff Gottbreht, of Lincoln, and Mike Clark, of Raymond, (pictured below) for their 6.30-pound walleye.
Besides the golden Oahe walleyes and world-class anglers, one of the afternoon’s highlights was the Youth and Family Fishing Clinic presented by the MWC and National Professional Anglers Association. MWC pro Johnnie Candle of Devils Lake, North Dakota, led the festivities as fellow circuit pros offered fishing tips and presented free rods, reels and tackle packs courtesy of Berkley, Abu Garcia and Northland Fishing Tackle to more than 60 children and their families.
The tournament continues tomorrow, with teams launching at 7 a.m. from Indian Creek Boat Ramp and returning to Mobridge at 3:30 p.m.

2009 Mobridge Winners
Jim Perry & Aaron Wagner
Jim Perry and Aaron Wagner won at the 2009 Cabela's MWC Mobridge tournament with a total weight of 15.72 pounds. Fishing was tougher the second day of the tournament for all of our anglers and our winners only brought in 1.8 pounds of fish. That was enough for them to pull out the victory though; in doing so they also recieved the NPAA bonus worth $100, and the Oxygenator bonus worth $200. The water quality is better this year so the anglers are hoping to bring in larger baskets, and you could be bringing home that first place check.
